The HDS 160M is a professional-grade submersible dredging pump manufactured by HDS Belgium (Hydraulic Dredging Systems). This heavy-duty medium-speed pump delivers 120 kilowatts (160 horsepower) with a 200 millimeter (8 inch) discharge size, capable of pumping 360 to 450 cubic meters per hour (1,585–1,980 gallons per minute) with a head range of 19 to 37 meters (62–121 feet). The "M" designation indicates a medium-speed design using a larger 163.9cc hydraulic piston motor, producing significantly higher head pressure than the 125-series pumps.

Superior wear resistance with 27% high-chrome casting impeller and wear plates hardened to 62 Rockwell C (HRC). Double seal cartridge protection in oil bath. Continuous duty rating at low to medium speeds. Impeller width 70mm (2.76 in) with 60mm (2.4 in) diameter strainer. Tempered stainless steel shaft AISI T-431 DIN 1-4057, superior to 39NiCrMo3 for seawater applications. HDS 160M vs HDS 125 Series Comparison
The HDS 160M uses a larger 163.9cc hydraulic piston motor compared to the 124.8cc motor in the HDS 125 series. This delivers 120 KW (160 HP) vs 78 KW (106 HP), and achieves a maximum head of 37 meters — significantly higher than the 28m of the HDS 125 or 22m of the HDS 125L. The 160M requires higher oil flow (up to 240 L/min) and uses a 1 1/4 inch pressure flange connection instead of the 1 1/2 inch BSP used on the 125 series. It is the preferred choice for applications requiring greater pumping distance or elevation head.
Mounting and Integration
Threaded fixations on both sides of pump casing for jetting ring or dredging cutter heads. Threaded fixations on motor housing for all types of lifting frames, rotating shafts, and horizontal or vertical ladder arms. Compatible with excavator cutter heads and mounting pads. Pump can be dismantled without removing excavator cutter heads.
Applications
Suitable for demanding mining operations, sand and gravel extraction (up to 4mm grain size), large-scale dredging projects requiring high head, harbor maintenance, construction excavation, and environmental remediation. Designed for severe conditions including heavy mud, clay, silt, and abrasive materials. Pumps coarse sand through PE-pipes (150, 200, 250mm diameter) up to 500 meters distance.

⚠️Important Informations before choosing the right dredging pump :
- Pumps designed for 1450 RPM - Thus higher speed results to higher wear of the wear plates, impeller, casing and agitator.
- Higher RPM results in higher capacity and head.
- To avoid higher wear when pumping abrasive sand RPM should be limited to recomended speed of 1150~1200 RPM.
- Silt and mud may be pumped at higher RPM, because it is less abrasive.
- Our performance curves are based on practical duty points for pumping coarse sand up to 4 mm grain size, providing reliable and realistic expectations in the field.
- Pumping sand through PE-pipes diameter 150, 200, 250mm. Distance up to max. 500 meters.
- There are similar dredging pumps from other manufacturer capable to pump dust of 0,1mm over a distance of 3000 meter.
- Note : Every water pump can pump dust of 0,1mm over a distance of 3000 meter.
